The world's most refreshing cocktail! With an ancestry dating back to the 1500s, the Mojito should really be called the world’s oldest cocktail.
As the legend goes, in the 1580s Sir Francis Drake stumbled upon Cuba where the indigenous people were making a medicinal beverage out of sugar cane spirits, lime, mint, and the juice from the sugar cane. Sir Francis became smitten by this elixir of life and thus brought it with him through his travels onward enjoying it at every port of call he came to.
As the decades rolled on, the humble Mojito has grown and morphed into a ubiquitous cocktail, easily accessible or dare we say “crushable” at any number of watering holes around the world. We will caution though as everyone can make a Mojito but few can make a Mojito well. Cheers to the Mojito!
A Leisuremann's Mojito celebrates white rum with forward yet refreshing mint notes, thirst-quenching fresh lime, and a deliciously subtle sweet simple syrup. It is best served on the rocks with a mint sprig and lime wedge as garnish - Cheers!
